The chief instructor of the dojo is Richard Edmunds Sensei.  He currently holds the rank of 6th Dan and is a Shidoin (senior teacher).  He is also a member of the teaching comittee of Scottish & Borders Birankai.

Edmunds Sensei began training in 1989 with Michael Holloway shihan, he has also spent a total of one year as uchideshi (inside student) to Chiba Sensei in San Diego California as part of a special teacher training (kensusei) programme.
